This irritating bot flagged this page because another site, http://www.cimorelli.com/cgi-bin/magellanscripts/ship_dates_volume.asp?ShipName=Capilano+(steamer), contains some similar text which is about the basic information on this ship. This article draws from the original source, which is Newell, ed., H.W. McCurdy Marine History, Superior Publishing, Seattle, WA (1966). The other site also draws from the same source, and in fact appears to quote the entry on page 306 almost word for word. This article doesn't quote McCurdy word for word, and since there will be some similarity considering we are talking about basic information (hull length, builder, owner, etc.) this is not a copyright problem.Mtsmallwood (talk) 02:49, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that's one of the most annoying bots around. I'm sure that it does often catch real copyright problems but in this case revert it and ignore it. The bot owner in my experience hasn't been very helpful with fine tuning the bot to avoid situations such as happened here. Brad (talk) 12:31, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I can't view the website but I see what you mean. The bot often has false positives but I think it is a net positive for the project just embarrassing for those falsely 'accused'. It is hard to fine-tune w/o missing the common cases of close-paraphrasing.--NortyNort (Holla) 12:50, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
