I don't think Uri is common enough to grant its being as the primary article. I propose to move this article to Uri (Switzerland), and make the Uri a disambiguation page. --Yurik 18:58, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone recently (last Nov?) moved Uri to Uri (disambiguation) (which is contrary to normal policy, BTW) and then redirected Uri to Canton of Uri, on the basis of "the number of links to this page". Well, I have just changed two templates -- one which should have pointed here directly, and one which pointed to Uri in India. There were still about 50 pages that link to the bare Uri (templates hadn't fully resolved) and I do not believe they should all come to this page. The way to resolve these links is for all of them to link to a dab page, where there is a wikiproject dedicated to resolving such links correctly. That won't happen if they are all pointing here.

I ended up here because I typed 'uri' into the search box (*), looking for Uniform Resource Identifier, and was extremely surprised (and a tad annoyed) to (a) find myself in a page about an area of Switzerland I'd never heard of, and (b) discover that there was already a DAB page for uri with (currently) 24 distinct entries. I am really not convinced that the original page move was correct.

( (*)OK so I'm lazy and don't use the shift key when searching, URI (rather than uri) points to the right place.)

I have now revised the article's hatnote to emphasise the redirection. (Note - there are still 56 article-links that point to 'Uri', some of which clearly relate to India.)
