article requires a major WP:OVERLINK cleanup

[edit]

UPDATE HAS BEEN DONE Revision as of 16:52, 11 August 2009:

What the hell is Nickelback doing with a photo when there isn't a photo of the Guess Who? Was this written by a Canadian?202.67.103.172 (talk) 07:47, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Numerous words and band names are linked more than once in this article which requires some major cleanup. There are also many common words which have been unnecessarily wikilinked. Common words do not require wikilinks to further explain their meaning. Wether B (talk) 01:26, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it does need a cleanup. Some of the links are just foolish. I would also point out that WP:MOSDATE is not being followed either as there are quite a few dates and years that are linked even though the linked date/year article has no content what-so-ever about Canadian music. GripTheHusk (talk) 10:44, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have received many pms about this ..Yes it does need fixing..and is a work in-progress if you were to note you will see the article has had a dramatic change to it since GA review last week.

What Wiki needs is more people editing rather then all the new individuals hopping from article to article adding tags all over Wiki. This is happening a lot lately and is making Wiki articles look invalid even though the articles are B levels. A note in Talk section like Wether has added is more then sufficient. Sorry about tag removal from Aug 10th Wether I was editing when you added it and was not aware i removed it. The problem with an artical this vast is the many many people who like to add there favorite band|musicians without reading to see if they are already mentioned,,thus multiple linking occurs. All help is a precipitated.... So if you see a problem pls take the time to fix it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am the one that has taken the time to redo the article and will un-Wikify soon. I have also re-done Music of Canada though it still need extensive expanding, I would like you guys to take a look at ...as it looks like both of you have been helping Wiki for some time now. Buzzzsherman (talk) 14:50, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I cleaned several multiple links to the same article (almost all of those I fixed were to individuals or bands), but there could still be some left.

There are also cities that are linked multiple times, should these be cleaned up? Puceron (talk) 08:26, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good job "Puceron" I have done the rest!!! UPDATE: Tag removed ...overlink|article ....I have taken the time to un-Wikify (unlink) doubles, triples and the word Juno was linked 14 times in this article Revision as of 16:52, 11 August 2009: http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Canadian_rock&diff=307389908&oldid=307323914 174.115.165.184 (talk) 16:58, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Was thinking a redirect|rename article Canadian rock music any toughs?? 174.115.165.184 (talk) 19:49, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Dominated by powerful managers" reworded

[edit]

Rush are far from puppets of a manager. They are the antithesis of corporate rock. I changed the sentence to something more neutral: "both featuring acclaimed managers". 192.133.12.101 (talk) 22:08, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Quebec section

[edit]

If a section is going to be included about distinct Quebec music, then I think other genres are needed as well, such as music from Atlantic Canada. As it stands, that section says nothing about Rock, so I think it should instead be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.26.88.180 (talk) 02:44, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lame...

[edit]

Article is lame in too many ways to list. Overall, it defines bands as worth mentioning based solely on whether their records made the US top 40 charts. The author seems to be either from Borneo or downtown Toronto. Many of the acts mentioned are folk music, not rock.

Volunteer to help with additional research

[edit]

Hi. I am semi-retired and have been studying the history of music at University as well as the history of rock music with its foundation genres of music.

And I am Canadian.

I’d like to volunteer to the page as a researcher with the goal of helping expand the page in areas already made a priority by the current managers and contributors. Although I’m not yet familiar with the tools to edit in Wikipedia, I am familiar with the standards of writing and proper citation. My family company is a leading editor for university textbooks. In 30 years, we’ve completed several hundred university textbooks.

It’s all out of personal interest.

Thank you,
