Merge

merge as per Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scouting/RulesStandards. Our intent is not to delete anyone's work or to minimize the importance of any article that already exists on the Wikipedia. Instead our goal is to tighten the information, to make it more relevant and useful for the general Wikipedian. This article will be absorbed in its entirety to the larger state Scouting article. The newer article will encompass OA lodges, Councils, early nonBSA Scouting organizations like Campfire or Woodcraft, Girl Scouting where applicable, and other ideas as they come up.Chris 06:22, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates safe?

[edit]

I worked for a Girl Scout Camp (three years actually), and we were constantly being told not to give out information as to the location of the camp, specifically for the reasons that we have girls from 5-17, and were vigilant against sexual predators. In fact, camps to non-scouts were often described as general and vague as possible in unofficial contexts.

While closed, it appears from the article that this parcel of land is still owned by Girl Scouts, and having such precise directions (coordinates) of the camp make it seem open for vandalism or worse. Did it cease operations as a summer overnight camp, or as a camp completely? If it is still available as a campsite, having directions like this may endanger the scouts.

If this is true of other camping sites in the scouts wikiproject, policy may have to reconsidered as to including coordinates. While I'm unaware of Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts Council of the Nation's Capital take it very, very seriously. Zidel333 06:08, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
