reduction of Zygogramma to a subgenus within Calligrapha

[edit]

Just as head-up while the editing is not yet complete; a very definitive revision recently published (2024) settles the dispute over the boundaries between Zygogramma and Calligrapha by reducing the former to a subgenus within the latter. That same revision also removes the South American species to the restored genus Tritaenia. I have cited it here, and removed outdated sources, and will gradually move the species presently listed under Zygogramma to renamed articles under Calligrapha. Once those articles have been moved, then I will add those species names to the Calligrapha article. It may take a while yet, I'll update once the process is completed. The renaming and moves are complete, all existing links and redirects I could find have been adjusted accordingly. Since the existing article for Zygogramma was a stub, giving only a tiny fraction of the constituent species, it made more sense to convert it into a redirect rather than retain it as a separate article for the subgenus (also, none of the other subgenera have their own standalone articles). What little text there was on biology was moved into the Calligrapha article, so no content was lost. Dyanega (talk) 21:40, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
