Geolink tag, Wikimapia, California State Indian Museum and GNU Free Documentation License question
[edit]Hi! I learned something about geolink tags and am using it in some of WP:CAL articles that were in stub statuses. I have a question about the Wikimapia. Is a screenshot of a Wikimapia map and/or satellite image considered releaseable to the Wiki projects under the GNU Free Documentation License? If so, this would really help our project in terms of being able to put quality maps of noted interchanges, desert locales, etc. I will post this on the California State Indian Museum talkpage. If you could answer me there, I'd appreciate it!!! Cheers, Ronbo76 15:29, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- As far as I know, WikiMapia hasn't determined how to license their content yet. Wikimedia's WikiMaps project (here) is working on creating free-use geographic images. Until then, I believe we just have to link to the sites with better information than we have. Kafziel Talk 15:36, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
