Merge

[edit]
The following discussion is closed and will soon be archived.

I believe the (non-duplicate) content in Café Paradiso should be merged to Denis Cotter, and the title redirected. I say this because:

  1. Per WP:MERGEREASON, there is already a significant overlap and duplication of text. For example, the "awards" sections of both articles are nearly identical. In one case the awards being associated with Cotter. In the other case the awards (or lack of them?) with the Café. The same could be said of the "style" section - where most of the text in the Café article refers to Cotter. [1][2]
  2. Per WP:CORPDEPTH, a number of the references (which are, incidentally, identical between the two articles) read somewhat like relatively "routine restaurant reviews". A type of content specifically called-out as not meeting the relevant guidelines for establishing notability.
  3. Per WP:PROMO, there is a tone in the Café article which seems more than a little promotional. In particular, there is some synthesis and extrapolation of what seems to be one short sentence in one Indo article, and which is used as the basis for much of the text in the article (its lead and its body).

In short, in its current form, this article doesn't seem to meet the criteria for a standalone article. And, in its current form, seems to meet at least three of the criteria (context, duplication, overlap) for a merge. Other thoughts? Guliolopez (talk) 19:42, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Resolved - In the absence of any other opinions or thoughts, I've gone ahead with the redirect. Ultimately there was nothing to merge. As *everything* in the article on the café was already covered in the article on its proprietor. ("Café specialising in vegetarian cuisine" - already covered in target article. "Reviewed by Indo" - already covered. "Award winning/opened 1993" - already covered. "Fear of cattle/overcome in 2008" - already covered. "Serves gnocchi and artichokes" - already covered. "Surprise at no Michelin stars" - already covered. "Link to café website" - already in chef article). Guliolopez (talk) 15:47, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
