Naming

[edit]

The naming is wrong!, it should be dodecaboranate. Boranates are anions of boranes, whereas borates are the name for a large number of boron-containing oxyanions. --Sami Lab (talk) 15:33, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You're probably correct in an official sense, but I dont think that many chemists use that terminology. --Smokefoot (talk) 00:07, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Moving the article to dodecaborate

[edit]

It has been suggested that we might move this article to dodecaborate, which is currently the redirect. In this way, the anion becomes the focus. We wouldnt change the content very much. If you have views on this fairly subtle change, leave comments here. --Smokefoot (talk) 00:07, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Irrelevant sentence

[edit]

"This anion has been of great theoretical interest to the chemistry community." To what chemistry community? What evidence is there for this unverifiable claim? I'm removing this until anyone objects or finds a source to evidence this claim Christiaanp (talk) 06:50, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is cited in all inorganic textbooks despite the fact that the anion or its salts have no applications.--Smokefoot (talk) 22:30, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
