WHOOSH..

[edit]

how fast would this thing be?? LOL 64.91.201.195 23:24, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

very fast

This car has a said top speed of 260 i think with would make it one of the fastest road cars to date

An Historical Note: Cadillac built the original V-16 car one year before the Stock Market Crash, and built this car just before gas went to $3 a gallon.

Yeah right. This car would get nowhere near 260 mph. It's a helluva lot heavier and infinitely less aerodynamic than the Bugatti Veyron with 1000 hp and a top speed of 252 mph. Look at the Mercedes CL65 AMG for an example of a car with pointless power- if you tune a car for comfort, with a comfortable ride, with non-racing brakes, with standard parts, with lots of leather and wood and a badge carved out of crystal.... then you could give it all the power in the world and it would still be necessary to electronically limit it to 155 mph because it just isn't engineered to deal with the speed. Chaparral2J (talk) 11:54, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
But just think of the torque ... as also demonstrated with the AMG, overtaking becomes an almost trivial exercise. Course you need traction control to get it off the line efficiently, and a limiter to stop it bursting the tyres and ripping off the trim at top whack, but in the important in-between stages it's simply awesome. 82.46.180.56 (talk) 21:00, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Details conflict

[edit]

So what is the gearbox, actually? The main text says 4-speed, but the sidebox says 10-speed. 10sp would suit the advanced nature of the beast, but if you put it in context of massively powerful machines (dragsters and the like), a fairly high-geared 4sp auto may be all that it needs. 82.46.180.56 (talk) 21:01, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MPG

[edit]

Top Gear is a UK show, which means that the 20mpg is the UK figure. In the US, it would probably be around 24 in the US

82.21.253.16 (talk) 08:33, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. Chaparral2J (talk) 00:11, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Um... Since the imperial gallon is larger than the US gallon, the conversion would go the other way, wouldn't it? (you would get fewer miles per US gallon that per UK gallon). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.32.132.91 (talk) 23:28, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thats would make alot more sense so it would be about 18 in US should it not?(86.31.177.8 (talk) 21:06, 10 November 2008 (UTC))[reply]

I tried to use the l/100km to find the US MPG and got a small fraction under 20 which tells me it was incorrectly worked out from the Imperial MPG. Can some one who knows the real MPUSG and L/100Km please put them in. I know its weird only having Imp MPG for a US car but until someone does the calculations (Or a US source for the MPG is found) thats how it has to be. DO NOT PUT BACK THE OLD UNITS THEY WERE WRONG I wrote the above but wasn't signed in (Morcus (talk) 21:20, 10 November 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Engine made by Dodge Motors? seriously?

[edit]

I have no idea where the idea that the engine was made by dodge came from, but the only evidence I have found indicates it was 100% GM in house, I feel a correction is warranted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.77.137.250 (talk) 05:00, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Engine Picture

[edit]

Article needss a picture of the engine. That's the car's main selling point. Virgil H. Soule (talk) 00:47, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

AGREED! Hmm, I need to find a fair use image of the engine.

V8 and V12 versions?

[edit]

So if this project had gone ahead, and as the article says there would also have been V8 and V12 versions of the same model, wouldn't they have different names? --RThompson82 (talk) 07:39, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Needs cleanup of opinions and promotional tone

[edit]

The current version has a number of un-attributed opinions, and relies too much on GM public statements and press releases, and not enough on independent sources. It is true that the automotive press was mostly positive in their reaction to the Cadillac Sixteen, but not quite the way this article presents it. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 02:47, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Production:

[edit]

Cadillac 16 weighs 2 tonnes and isn't aerodynamic, so most likely will have a top speed of araound 225-235 mph. [1]

Wasn't this car the reward for 100% completion in Midnight Club 3? I don't see mention of that in the media section? MM ('"HURRRR?) (Hmmmmm.) 00:47, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

'Flatten it', as the Americans would say...

[edit]

When James May talked about this car, he said, "It's only when you 'flatten it', as the Americans would say..."

As an American, I would like to know: Who are the American's saying this, and why are they saying this?Jtrnp (talk) 04:32, 27 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
