Confusing opening section
[edit]The opening section is rather confusing. It refers to the introduction of this moth to areas outside its native habitat, and says that the moth is an invasive species. This is rather confusing. In some places, Australia in particular, this moth is regarded as heroic ( because its introduction got rid of a much worse invasive species), while in other places, such as the southern US, its a villain. Perhaps this unusual dichotomy should be more clearly explained.Eregli bob (talk) 08:42, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
Non-specific time descriptions
[edit]While copyediting, I noticed several instances where things are described as "current" or "recent". Examples:
- "More recently, Cactoblastis cactorum began to attack Opuntia cacti on San Salvador Island in the Bahamas..."
- "Currently in the United States, populations of Cactoblastis cactorum have been discovered in Florida, Georgia, and most recently, in Louisiana." (haven't copyedited this part yet!)
- "Cactoblastis is currently moving along both the Gulf and Atlantic Coasts at a rate of 100 miles per year"
- "Current studies aim to identify the most efficient way to prevent the invasion of Cactoblastis cactorum"
- "One optioned currently being explored is a bacteria, Bacillus thuringiensis, which would kill middle-aged larvae of Cactoblastis cactorum"
To fix the issue, one would have to go through the references. Maybe someone will pick up the glove? ʝunglejill 09:28, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
