- Most probably OP never lived through the DOS-era. By his age, I'd say he was about 5-6 years old when Windows 95 was released, hence DPMI, ring0, tricks to use 4 GB, etc made him wonder "why!?". The article could do with an introduction explaining only 640 KB were available in DOS-time, EMS vs XMS vs..., etc. Pgquiles (talk) 23:05, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
