The hyperlinked CG centers within the CGIAR article in wikipedia should link to other wikipedia articles. Either the links should bring to an external webpage (the center itself) or an article about the center should be created in wikipedia.--83.103.94.4 08:16, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
Single source / Press release /copypaste
[edit]This article, as well as the 16 articles on CGIAR sub entities in the article's infobox, appear to have been copied directly from their websites, and are written like adverts. I've totally rewritten one, but most need to be removed and rewritten for copyvio alone, not to mention the fact that they are all incredibly POV.
If you're looking for a research project, here's a good one. I'm also removing the "start" tag from these articles, as an unreferenced copyvio doesn't meet "start" criteria. T L Miles (talk) 17:05, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Awhile back I re-wrote the introduction section so it's hopefully more balanced and useful now. I think these concerns still apply to the rest of the article though. Foonarres (talk) 17:25, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
- During rewrite, please note that since the dropping of the full name, CGIAR does not take the defite article, so "CGIAR" not "the CGIAR"—GRM (talk) 09:40, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Starting point for a more balanced article

Dublin Process
[edit]The history section is now out of date. The CGIAR has just signed an agreement with the AUC to back an African science agenda for agriculture. This is part of the ongoing 'Dublin Process' to align the CG's research with CAADP in Africa. I need historical information on the initiation and progress of this process, but can only find information related to 'Dublin 2'... Please help by updating this article. Thanks—GRM (talk) 12:06, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
Proposed merge with CGIAR Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers
[edit]Consortium article completely overlaps with CGIAR article; merge DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 22:47, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with this proposal. The name 'CGIAR Consortium' was created in 2011, but I think it's clear (from looking at http://www.cgiar.org/cgiar-consortium/ and http://www.cgiar.org/who-we-are/history-of-cgiar/) that this is the same organisation as the CGIAR which has existed since 1971, just with a slightly different name. It makes sense for these two articles to be merged since they are about the same organisation. Foonarres (talk) 17:19, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
- Agreed. The two articles describe the same organization, and have large (complete) overlap. The CGIAR is the most extensive. Possible solution is to delete the CGIAR Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers and rename the CGIAR article to CGIAR Consortium, following the most recent naming convention as linked by Foonarres. Rwos (talk) 09:20, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
- Support. No-brainer. Lfstevens (talk) 22:37, 9 April 2014 (UTC)
- Agreed. But note CGIAR and CGIAR Consortium are connected but separate. The CGIAR Consortium (with its member Centers generally known as CGIAR Centers) is one part of a global research partnership referred to as CGIAR (see the diagram on the link http://www.cgiar.org/who-we-are/). CGIAR should remain the title of the main page, with the CGIAR Consortium information incorporated as subsection. User:klchapman 15:38, 14 July 2014 (GMT+1)
- The "CGIAR Consortium" and "CGIAR" are one and the same. If you visit the CGIAR website, you will note that they don't want to be referred to as the Consortium anymore. Combine and make it CGIAR only! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frankahilario (talk • contribs) 21:49, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
- Support. The two are closely related if not identical, and a merge would be straightforward. Proposal has been open for 2+ years without any oppose votes.Dialectric (talk) 02:51, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
Done
The name changed again to CGIAR System Organization from the official name of Consortium of International Agricultural Research Centers (CGIAR) on November 21, 2016 [1]. Here is the official document confirming it [2]. It's now considered an "independent international organization" and is intended to succeed in title the Consortium of International Research Centers established in 2010 as a "contractual joint venture" by the 15 centers. Someone might want to update this... tellingtales 06:05, 5 March 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tellingtales (talk • contribs)
And the reason for the name change is that the governance structure was changed in June 2016, as shown here [3] which is linked from the bottom of this page http://www.cgiar.org/about-us/our-governance/ (tellingtales 06:12, 5 March 2017 (UTC))

One CGIAR
[edit]Should the One CGIAR "initiative" be its own section, or does it replace sections? For example, this page has a different mission and vision statement than the overall CGIAR. Jbakum (talk) 20:06, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- Jbakum, it is not clear to me what exactly "One CGIAR actually is. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 12:54, 7 March 2022 (UTC)
