Incorrectly identified ORDER

[edit]

Referring to the image which reads "A buprestid from Atherton, Queensland (Australia)." Unless I am wrong, that blue insect shown in the gallery is actually a bug (Heteroptera), not a beetle. It should be removed. Sigil VII (talk) 02:19, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is a Scutellarid. You can remove anything that is incorrect. Shyamal (talk) 03:12, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help requested to identify a jewel beetle

[edit]

I have just added a photo of a jewel beetle taken earlier this month in Atherton, Queensland, Australia. I wonder if anyone could identify it for me please. (Feel free to add the identification to the image if you are sure of it). Many thanks, John Hill (talk) 22:57, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Help requested to identify a jewel beetle

[edit]

I believe it's a Cotton Harlequin Bug (Tectocoris diophthalmus, Family Scutelleridae) http://www.austmus.gov.au/factSheets/true_bugs.htm Although it isn't a buprestid, they are still really cool looking; I wish we had them in the US :D JimtheEvil (talk) 10:42, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Dyanega & @MightyWarrior: The edit appears correct to me. This is Buprestidae not Buprestinae. Invasive Spices (talk) 17:43, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I just followed the link from Aaaaba! “Encyclopaedia Of Life” agrees [1].
What happens now? Do we reinstate my edit? MightyWarrior (talk) 18:32, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That link clearly shows that Aaaaba is in the subfamily Agrilinae, not Buprestinae. You're confused about the basic taxonomic ranks. I can re-add the genus, but I'll add it where it actually belongs. Dyanega (talk) 18:41, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I was confused about sections. I didn't notice MW had added it to the wrong section. Invasive Spices (talk) 15:32, 28 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
