Buffen?

[edit]

Is 'buffen' an actual term for it? Looking at the quoted article at two different points in time (https://web.archive.org/web/20160930082311/https://www.outlookindia.com/magazine/story/the-beef-about-buff/297825 / https://web.archive.org/web/20171204222852/https://www.outlookindia.com/magazine/story/the-beef-about-buff/297825) shows the same text which only mentions it being called 'buff' and I can't seem to find other occurrences of the word online in reference to buffalo meat (the closest I get is an old word for a type of leather (https://www.oed.com/search/dictionary/?scope=Entries&q=buffen). 2A02:2788:8E4:7CB:54AF:3DE0:BCAC:9007 (talk) 01:51, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah it looks suspect, thanks for bringing it up. I asked at Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics#Buffen_meat_hoax? If there is no response soon I agree with removing all instances of "buffen" from the article. Commander Keane (talk) 06:34, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed it from the article. The two photos I removed did not specifically mention buffalo meat in their dishes, thus questionable. Commander Keane (talk) 07:31, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
