Factual Dispute: Designation of Road Code M1
[edit]- First of all - I'm a newbie and this is the first time I've labelled an article like this. If I've done it wrong, please excuse me and fix it!
While I believe that the Bruce Highway is still part of National Highway 1, I know that in South-East Queensland (I think all of the Bruce Highway) has been re-designated to M1, rather than National Highway 1. I think this information needs to be updated on the article, in it's various images, as well as several other articles linking to, and relating to this topic. --DanielBC 10:14, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- It is still National Highway 1 and I had initially modified the images to represent this, then I took into account that at no stage is the route marked with the shield around it (to my knowledge), so that was why I had the basic A1 and M1 markers instead, to represent the route's signage. This is the same with the A2. MagpieShooter 05:48, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Townsville and Thuringowa (Thuringowacityrep)
[edit]First of all, I take Townsville as the metropolitan area, and it consists of 2 City Councils, which is Townsville City and Thuringowa City.
Now if that is clear, I'll explain the removal. KISS. One won't say Bondi Beach is in Waverly instead they say in Syndey. Or the case for Homebush Bay. It's pretty much the same. It is meant to mean the metropolitan area, not City Councils.
And of course, this is to be solved in Townsville and Thuringowa pages, not a Highway which pass through. Before the dispute is solved there, please users don't add Thuringowa without an valid reason in other pages like this. It's not like I want to be biased, but keep the discussion/dispute on one place first, before changing everything and create the same disputes on other pages.
Other than that, there's also another reason. This is not a competition of what's to be in the list and what's not. Pine Rivers Shire has lots more people - 143,000 residents. And yet it is also not included.
Thanks, matt-(my page-leave me a message) 18:54, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
hi WikiTownsvillian (Talk | contribs) can you tell me Why you changed what i did i'm finding that Wikipedia is full of people that are very one sided i bet if you lived in Thuringowa it would be ok to add the very minor things i do. i dont put any crap in here only facts and i was just told that Thuringowa should get listed but not in the info bar so i did, and now you come along again and remove the FACTS that i put in here....i can't wait to edit Townsville.. i have a large amount of info here now form all over Australia and there is some stuff on the Townsville page that is very incorrect a lot of it seems to be POV. so can you please tell me why you change it again thank you (Thuringowacityrep)
- Will reply at User talk:Thuringowacityrep#continual inserting of Thuringowa references all over Wikipedia. Thanks, WikiTownsvillian 11:37, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Lists of major upgrades
[edit]I have changed 1 list to a table to gauge reaction before I tackle the others. Any comments? Downsize43 (talk) 11:52, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
No lead tag
[edit]Why? What is wrong with the current lead section? Downsize43 (talk) 06:05, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- I have fixed it. The problem was that the {{TOC limit}} template is used to avoid too much detail in the table of contents. The template had been placed at the top, so the table of contents was above the infobox and lead text. --Scott Davis Talk 07:18, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
Anzac Avenue as formerly part of Bruce Highway
[edit]The edit which I reverted was based on local knowledge that is not as long as mine. For many years, while Old Gympie Road at Kallangur was still a dirt track, the Bruce followed Anzac Ave to Rothwell and then Deception Bay Road to Burpengary. In more recent times Old Gympie Rd was upgraded to 2 lanes of bitumen, in which guise it served as the Bruce for a few years until the current alignment was built. Claim of Original Research in History section
[edit]An editor has tagged the History section (which I wrote) as Original Research. IMHO:
- Info derived from Google maps is not OR (Do we really need an inline citation for each statement of the form "X road runs from A to B"?
- Info derived from another WP article (with inline citation to the original ref in this article) is not OR.
- Assumptions stated as such are not OR.
- Implicit assumptions of the form "A may have included parts of B and C" are not OR.
I am at a loss to know what else to do to get this section accepted. Any suggestions? Downsize43 (talk) 10:44, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
Assumptions have been removed, all relevant items have inline citations, and the OR tag has been removed. Downsize43 (talk) 04:29, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
Gympie Bypass is open
[edit]https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-10-16/gympie-bypass-opens-bruce-highway-queensland-roads/104477620 Do we need to update the article to reflect the fact the M1 now extends north of Gympie to Curra? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.102.10.37 (talk) 02:35, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
