[edit]As a huge fan of BDG's comedy, I almost hate to say this, but this page is far too sanitized. Brother Dave's late 60's descent into paranoia, overt racism, and tight connections with both the Ku Klux Klan and controversial oil tycoon H. L. Hunt is documented in the article "Whatever Happened To Brother Dave?" in the September 1970 issue of Harper's Magazine. This shouldn't be overlooked.
- Also a fan here, and I agree. In fact, the article needs a good deal more about Gardner's life. Right now it's mostly about his comedic style. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.95.43.249 (talk) 00:09, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

[edit]My wife and I were,I think,at the top Bourbon Street night club,Stormy's(I think) during a night when the town was loaded with Canadians.Brother Dave gave his classic set and the room was silent, except for us.We were about to die laughing. When Dave finished his set he rushed over to our table with the warmest greeting I've ever received anywhere, any time. He was most grateful and said:"Who our these other people, undertakers?" "No,"we said" ,just Canadians". I've never seen anyone so relieved.
