You only have to be 14 to become a qualified lifeguard in New Zealand


With the British Bronze Medallion award you can now do it at age 12 and the sequence/content is very different from that mentioned in this page. I am currently writing an article about lifesaving awards that I have not yet put on the site which covers the awards from Bronze Medallion, through Open Water and then up to Distinction.
