History with Brendan Nelson
[edit]I have added her history with Brendan Nelson when she was the Shadow Health Minister and him President of the Australian Medical Association. If someone can fine a better way to word what I have written fine but please do not delete it completely.--The Shadow Treasurer (talk) 06:30, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
You added this with no references at all and what you did write was just speculation.I has nothing to support what you said. Therefore I did remove completely. If you decide to write it again fully then do it properly with references.ThanksStravin (talk) 08:15, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
The history between Nelson and Bishop is a fact as I remember quite clearly back then. It is very hard to look for sources dating back to 1994. I suggest that you help out in finding this information instead of merely deleting things.--The Shadow Treasurer (talk) 06:23, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
I found a source pertaining to this relationship while she was Shadow Health Minister and have added it to the article. But previously I had not been aware of this relationship with Nelson. Perhaps next time you will think to add referenced information and not just things that you "remember". Regards Stravin (talk) 07:21, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
What is with all this history with Brendan Nelson? Did she have a sexual relationship with him? 60.240.14.140 (talk) 15:32, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Failed Law at Sydney Uni
[edit]http://www.smh.com.au/national/the-diary/rhino-misses-victory-party-20100826-13uba.html sights that she actually failed law and then later passed exams only for the Solicitors Admission Board. Educated at Sydney Uni, qualified, No way. 60.240.14.140 (talk) 15:30, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Maybe Bishop should get her qualifications out and set the record straight.
Looks like an urban legend started by leftists. Unless Bishop has released this info herself then it has been stolen from Synee Yooni. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14.202.184.145 (talk) 12:35, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Smoking
[edit]Bronwyn Bishop has been a leading advocate of the idea that smoking does not cause any illness. Could we include this? - Richardcavell 16:39, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- Sources? Bidgee (talk) 11:15, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Not aware that she advocated it not causing illness. Don't see any references for this. Certainly she supported tobacco being legally advertised in Australia. At the time, the British Medical Journal criticised her making statements on her first day as shadow minister for health in support of this advertising, and for stating that the case had not been made that tobacco was a dreadful product (BMJ 1994;308:1590 18 June).128.250.90.46 (talk) 05:46, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Non-Third part sources
[edit]Quote from the article showing the non third party sources. "" = the sources in question.
The report was widely criticised by a range of organisations such as "Family Drug Support" <ref>"Family Drug Support" (2007). An Opportunity Missed: A Considered Response to the ‘Winnable War on Drugs’ Report of the House Standing Committee on Family & Human Services.</ref>, The Australian Democrats[1] and The "Australian Drug Foundation" <ref> Bill Stronach (2007). Illicit Drugs and the Family: Parliamentary report lacks credibility and pragmatism "Australian Drug Foundation"</ref> for lacking evidence, being ideologically driven and having the potential to do massive harm to Australia.
How can we class this a reliable since it's been sourced from the critics. I'll would rather have a Hansard, News story or website then something that isn't findable and third party. Bidgee (talk) 11:15, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Has Bishop read this article?
Is Newport in her electorate? If it is , we should just be reading that she lives in her electorate. Why be so specific?

Three firsts
[edit]Edit at 20:23 on 23 January 2011 created three unsourced firsts; viz,
- She was the first woman to be a Senator for New South Wales.
- She was the first Liberal woman from New South Wales to become a member of the House of Representatives.
- She was the first Liberal woman from New South Wales to become a minister.
Whilst I don't deny that these are facts, there is no citation or evidence of same. Can it be proven from reliable third-party sources that these three statements are factually correct? Jherschel (talk) 11:43, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- For the first one - Talina Drabsch, Women, Parliament and the Media, NSW Parliamentary Library Research Service, Briefing Paper No 5/07.
- The other 2 are proving tougher nuts to crack, cite-wise, but I'll keep looking. -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 12:21, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- Cool. Leave it to you to add citations, in due course. Jherschel (talk) 12:31, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
