Brody Condon

Open discussion on the addition of a wiki on Brody Condon, New Media Artist. Currently Brody is referenced in Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Machine Project and Suzanne Seggerman. In addition I would like to add a reference to him on Virtual art. He is an artist operating at the edge of the virtual art movement, both producing pieces using video games as a medium and instructing others in the same. His work has created controversy and has been the subject of articles in the New York Times, LA Weekly... Comments are appreciated. --Quintessence Schism (talk) 08:48, 28 April 2008 (UTC)--Quintessence Schism (talk) 22:14, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I just removed the majority of the web links referenced in the article. This is because many were dead, others were linked to personal web sites and/or were promotional in nature. Before adding any additional links please see WP:EL regarding Wiki policies for External Links. Peace! --Kbob (talk) 21:06, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Possbile Spam Article

[edit]

I have marked this article as possible SPAM/ADVERTISEING WP:ADVERT. I will be returning to clean it up further. Any comments or contributions are welcomed. --Kbob (talk) 21:30, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs valid references otherwise I may need to cut it down to one paragraph. I don't see the notability WP:NOTABILITY of this mans work except for two articles that reference the controversy of one video game and a work of art purchased by a museum in Europe. I think the notable stuff could be condensed to one paragraph and that the gratuitous descriptions of all of his video games (sometimes in his own words) should all be removed. --Kbob (talk) 13:08, 7 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since no other editors have joined this discussion today I made bold WP:BOLD revisions and edits to this article to bring it up to what I feel are Wiki's nuetral standards. I am today removing the SPAM banner that I had placed earlier.--Kbob (talk) 21:35, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Artist Statement

[edit]

I removed the gratuitous copy below. If the ref below is valid then the sentence could be reworked and put in the third person and combined with other copy but we don't need a separate section for this one small point. However, I am very suspcious of the reference as I have already removed at least a dozen other links that were dead, misleading or outright spam----------

Artist statement

Condon describes his work as:

I would personally describe my work as visual arts projects that just utilize the materials and strategies of game development in various ways….The goal of my personal work tends to be a process of …trying to understand the links between traumatic events and fabricated memories, spiritual experience, and…constructed realities in contemporary culture.”

Post Keithbob Cleanup

[edit]

Was unorganized, but all references were valid sources, just linked very poorly or dead. All quotes from the artist were from valid sources (print and online publications/museum websites/published interviews). Links to artist's website went to images of artwork mentioned in the text (the outright spam?). Kiethbob's text changes were random and made the information that was left confusing/misleading, so I cleaned up the page of factual errors and added clear/working reference links. I'll let others edit/add from here. Thanks! 71.255.77.78 (talk) 05:50, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
