Latest revision
[edit]I find that the latest revision of this entry mitigates the concerns raised about it being a fork of the "National Broadband Plan" entry. There is some overlap, but it is more complementary than redundant as the Broadband Universal Service entry also provides different context and now selected international examples. --JMBauer (talk) 02:22, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- I see an overlap with National broadband plans from around the world, if that is what you mean. It shares some problems with the National Broadband Plan (United States) too. It needs to give a more balanced point of view, instead of just presenting the government and industry lobbyists sources. And it makes a common confusion about broadband - that article is about the technical definition of the term. This one seems to be using "broadband" to mean "Internet access". I am still researching when this term got it more poplar usage; my current guess is that people in Europe might have thought the Internet sounded too American, so since "Broadband" was a fuzzier term (and used in the B-ISDN effort) it was co-opted? This needs to to be explained and put in context (and the link fixed). And the citations need much work. W Nowicki (talk) 17:04, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
- Another obvious comment is that the 2011 survey was out in February, so that should be used instaed of the 2010 one. And please do not make it look like more sources than it is by duplicating them. W Nowicki (talk) 21:39, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Title
[edit]I think we could clarify the title. Broadband universal service sounds clunky and includes the buzzword "broadband". I think Universal Internet service would make more sense. Lmatt (talk) 14:18, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
