Are there any restrictions on teams seeking promotion from NL2 to NL1 eg there used to be "subject to stadium criteria" when going from NL1 to SLE? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.102.161.75 (talk) 02:51, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- Not that I am aware of.GordyB (talk) 08:46, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Proposed rename
[edit]With two French teams and now a Canadian team playing in the system, with future European/North American teams also a possibility, I propose we rename this article Rugby Football League System to reflect the fact that this is no longer a British system, merely a system administrated by the British-based RFL. - Whilst a name change may be warranted, I don't believe the suggestion is the definitive answer as it wouldn't make much sense to the unitiated. I don't have a suggestion though, but it certainly is worthwhile opening this up to others, as you have done at WPRL.Fleets (talk) 19:39, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
- I'm open to a change but not to that change: Rugby League Football System is too generic and masks the existence of other rugby league football "systems" around the globe. While open to a change, I'm also not convinced that one is necessary. The invitation of the occasional foreign team to participate does not necessarily change the fundamentally "British" nature of the rugby league system with which the article deals. I note that the article English football league system covers ground that includes Welsh and Channel Island football teams. --Mkativerata (talk) 21:31, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
- Fair points, well made. More international clubs is speculation at present anyway, so probably too early to change title. Bwfcwarrior (talk) 18:35, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
League Pyramid
[edit]I think the league pyramid needs a major update. I've done a small bit from what I can find but pages are contradicting each other making it hard to do a meaningful reform as I can't seem to find any helpful external sources.
Questions that need answering:
1. Does National Conference League occupy Level 4 on the pyramid or Levels 4, 5, 6 and 7?
- If only 4, then this page needs changing.
- If 4, 5, 6 and 7, then every page for leagues bellow this needs changing as they all claim to be level 5.
2. How does promotion and relegation work between National Conference League and the regional leagues?
3. Where does Conference League South come in to the pyramid?
Any input would be appreciated. Mn1548 (talk) 17:39, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
- Changes have been made addressing these questions based of information already on the page and pages linked from this page. Hopefully this simpler pyramid is easier to understand and better reflects the actual structure. Mn1548 (talk) 19:31, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
