"The first British airborne troops were formed in June, 1940," - it sounds like the troops were "formed" from their constituent particles :P. I appreciate that "troop" can also be a military unit, but this is unnecessarily vague - suggest "force".
"The first British airborne troops were formed in June, 1940, on the orders of the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, and a single parachute battalion was formed from a retrained British Commando unit" - Skinny, Skinny, Skinny! Every GA review and there's repetition in a sentence :P. replace one "formed" with "created"; suggest the first one.
"When planning began for Operation Torch, the invasion of North Africa, in 1942" - suggest shortening to "When planning began for [[Operation Torch|the invasion of North Africa]] in 1942".
Suggest linking "503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment" to 503rd Infantry Regiment (United States).
Link Bône (well, Annaba).
"1st Parachute Battalion was then tasked with being dropped near Souk el-Arba and Béja and securing the airfield at the latter" - "1st Parachute Battalion was then dropped near Souk el-Arba and Béja with the intent of securing the airfield at the latter"
Link Depienne Airfield and Oudna Airfield.
"it had lost more than 250 casualties" - you don't "lose" casualties, you suffer them. It brings to mind an image of a group of tommies patting themselves down and going "now I'm sure I had it earlier" "did you check underneath the sofa?" "yes, I found a COUPLE of the casualties we lost, but there's at least 240 still missing".
