I think this article should be under BHS (capitalised as such). The name "British Home Stores" feels very old-fashioned now, and is almost never used by younger people or in the media. Loganberry 22:32, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)

British Home Stores branding was 80's branding it is now branded BHS with home range only stores named BHS HOME as of Summer 2010.

OK - was a requested article on the UK noticeboard, but will move. -- ALoan (Talk) 22:40, 26 Oct 2004 (UTC)

This article seems like a buyers guide rather than an encyclopdic article - I'm afraid I know very little about it though - maybe requires a clean up? --Pridds 21:52, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

This article is filled with value judgements making part of it seem like a PR piece by the store chain's management and part of it like vandalism perpetrated by a disgruntled ex-employee (I mean the part about call centre staff in India being unable to speak English and about directors paying themselves enormous bonuses). It certainly needs a clean-up. 19:49, 3 November 2006

Brand Reinvention

As far as I am aware the 20:20 concept was the one which included the white-on-black fascia. Sir Phillip saw it (in addition to a revised design for name badges and bags) at the Kingston store and apparently was not keen, likening the new design of the fitting rooms for example to a tarts boudoir. I doubt there is any written evidence of this but this was what has been heard from the managers who were there for the visit! I think only 5 stores were refurbished like this until a new concept was put together (similar to the refit of Bhs Meadowhall after the flood damage). This was information I found out working there for about two years and without speaking to head office it is unlikely that any of this could be confirmed properly! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.233.105.148 (talk) 20:21, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Reversion

I've reverted a couple of sections, which as noted above seem to be from a disgruntled employee/ex-employee/customer. The reverted text can, of course, be seen in the page history. Carre 15:17, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Just To Say

I am a complete idiot but - Many of the call centre staff can't speak properenglish, they can be very hard to understand. There is also unhealthy pressure to sell cards. Although I don't know about the money that the bosses are supposed to be making the rest is true.

Is it me or does this article read more like a public relations/advertising for bhs rather than an encyclopedia entry. Perhaps a tidy up is called for. MilborneOne 23:05, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

I have tidied up a few of the sections and removed some of the non-notable and advertising bits but I would suggest more work is required. Interesting the section 'First Major Change' was fifty years after the company was formed. Presumably it did not change for 50-years !. MilborneOne 23:33, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

.... No ones stopping you from trying to find some company history from the 30s to 80s!! ;-)

1930s-80s

Has anyone found any information on the company from the 1930's to early 80s?? I sure can't find anything...!

Move to British Home Stores

As an employee of Bhs, I can say with a certainty that the official name of "Bhs" is British Home Stores. So this article should be moved. Jasca Ducato 13:14, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

It is trading under two names. The mainly furniture stores: Chichester, Broughton Park, Leeds Kirkstall etc are British Home Stores while the rest of the chain is branded Bhs. The new credit notes even say something along the lines of being redeemable "in any Bhs or British Home Stores".

Bhs Logo at head of article

Can the Tammy logo be removed - the company is Bhs Ltd, not Bhs Tammy Ltd which is the impression given by the header. Tammy is one of many divisions within the company and has its own section within the article.

Fair use rationale for Image:Tammy.jpg

Image:Tammy.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Store cards

I've changed the dates into past tense and normalized them. Beyond that, I wonder if these sections are too detailed and indeed even perhaps a corporate insertion that is unmerited, especially as much if the information (APR retc) is likely to date very quickly.

Hello, a user (Sick 3) edited the Belmont High School logo with this store's logo and used that file path for this page here. A new file should be uploaded rather than overriding one already in use for another page, thank you. Jacotto (talk) 07:00, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
