Steam power?

Flight magazine states the thing was powered by four inboard mounted "Siddeley Pumas" which seems more likely, but less interesting, than the steam powered story given here. If you re-read the article, it says that it was intended to use steam turbines. It also says that planes were actually built with IC engines, but didn't fly. The information is referenced from a source that should be reliable, so I have no reason to disbelieve it. Perhaps Flight magazine was unaware of the proposals at the time?
