Courier Mail

Im a Brisbane boy born and bred, so Im only a casual AFL Fan, but I remember an anectodal story about the Bears gettting thrashed so badly in the "bad news bears" days, that there was no report (not even scores) in the Monday edition of the Courier Mail after the weekends match. Can anyone confirm that this is true or just an urban myth--81.144.244.194 15:01, 26 July 2006 (UTC)Lucas

Sounds like an urban myth to me, and I don't fancy trawling through eight or so years of match reports and scores to prove it either way. There was a match at Carrara in 1989 where the Bears were defeated by a league record margin (which remains today), and there was definitely a match report and scores the following day on that occasion.
This may be somewhat confused with Friday night matches. It wasn't uncommon for a match report and scores from Friday night games to finish too close to the C-M's deadline for the following day's edition to be included. --The Brain of Morbius 00:27, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Koala "Bear"?

I know it's rather trivial, but I still think it needs a mention...I've edited the page to mention that Koalas aren't bears, but I think it needs a proper explaination about if the mascot was called a bear for convinence(Brisbane Koalas? Yeah, real tough!), or perhaps the mascot was meant to be a be a half Koala, half Bear...thing. Any sort of information on this would be helpful.BrotherEstapol 16:13, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
