Comparison
[edit]I didn't know that a film was made of the book. Since it's been so long since I read the novel, how do the plots of the book and film compare? What appears in the article about the film's plot seems a lot more simplistic than what I vaguely remember the book's to be.
A photo of the Brighty sculpture would be a nice addition to the article. I know there's a way to request specific photographs here on WP, I just don't know what it is. If you know, please put in a request for the photo. Thank you, Wordreader (talk) 20:40, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- Stop the presses. I happened to find a mention of a sculpture photo in the Grand Canyon National Park's Flickr stream:

- These two photos are under a Creative Commons license #2 - free to share with attribution. Is one of these appropriate to upload? Thanks, Wordreader (talk) 21:36, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Why is Brighty notable in this book & movie anyway?
[edit]I do not expect a blow-by-blow retelling of the book and film, but this article fails to mention WHY there is a story about Brighty at all. It leaves us knowing more about the human characters than the burro. Are a few salient points too much to ask? Did the burro save the life of the president? Did he avenge the death of the Old Timer that is mentioned in the article? Did he set the record for swimming the length of the Colorado River? And WHY did Brighty merit a bronze statue - because he was cute? Because he had a book written about him? And the article didn't even say what significance his name had - Bright Angel Creek and all. I have not read this book since I was a kid, so much of it is lost to me. Come on, writers - pad out this pony! Thank you, Wordreader (talk) 19:52, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
