YouTube links
[edit]This article is one of thousands on Wikipedia that have a link to YouTube in it. Based on the External links policy, most of these should probably be removed. I'm putting this message on the talk page, to request the regular editors take a look at the link and make sure it doesn't violate policy. In short: 1. 99% of the time YouTube should not be used as a source. 2. We must not link to material violating someone's copyright. If you are not sure whether the link on this article should be removed or if you would like to help spread this message, contact us on User talk:J.smith/YouTube Linklist. Picture?
[edit]Someone who is better at finding non-copywritten pictures should find one and replace the current one, as the picture of him poised to throw the ball is not the most apt image one thinks of for a defensive player. JesseRafe 02:32, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Game by game highlights
[edit]I don't think that this page should be used to post summaries of nearly every game Dawkins plays. Yes, his performance today was good, but remember this is an encyclopedia, not a blog. These last three weeks of this season aren't going to be that important in a couple of months. I added the "Trivia" section for truly memorable plays as well as miscelanny. The section that is currently labelled "Memorable plays" should be remade as a "Career Milestones" or something to that effect, such as moving into 4th place on the franchise interceptions list, rather than leading the team to an 8-6 record. JesseRafe 03:25, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Memorable plays
[edit]I think it is good. IT may need some cleanup and feel free to add plays. But I don't think there are any plays on there that need to be removed. *cough* Alge hit *cough.* Superbowlbound 18:32, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- Do remember that this is an encyclopedia, not your sports blog where you can talk about your favorite player and how he rocked somebody. I love Dawk and watching him play, but that is not as much as a "memorable play". That was a tackle and that's it, everything else about that particular tackle is just ancillary information in terms of the "play" that was made. "Plays" are what are recorded in the box score and in the stats, and that's it. I did, in fact, add the information about Dawk suplexing Coles for example, but I added that in the trivia section, because that's trivial, when in terms of a "play" executed on the football field it was only a tackle. I'm not trying to be snobby, I just think that Dawkins deserves a good wikipedia page, and that's why I come on here and delete the stuff that the fanboys write after every game. JesseRafe 15:19, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think you've ever seen the hit. The Vick hit is on there also. Both are vicious. I don't live near eagles fans but anyone who saw that playoff game remebers that hit.
- Yeah I was there. Yes it was a big hit, but it is too fanboy for an encyclopedia. This is a slippery slope. A 99-yard touchdown is just that, a 99-yard touchdown. But a "big hit" is entirely subjective. And it then opens up the page to list every hit Dawkins has ever made as a "big hit". For the record, I think the suplex thing is in the same category. Montco 03:54, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- I totally agree. When I restructed this page last summer and made it into this format, I added the suplex as a trivial item, the same place where I added the information about the int-fum rec-sack-td game, as trivia, not as memorable plays (espec. because the latter was not one play). To the best of my knowledge (therefore Original Research) I had never seen a defender suplex an opponent as a legal tackle, so it I figured it warranted information. I have however, seen a large number of "oh my god, did you see that hit! He rocked him, son! Oh shit, I'm a write about that on Wikipedia" tackles, and I don't think they're noteworthy at all. JesseRafe 15:33, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
The Mike sellares hit was noteworthy too then. you fanboy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TCO (talk • contribs) 22:19, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
suplex versus Truck stick
[edit]If the suplex stays, then the Sellers truck stick stays. If one goes, then the other goes. Really better if they both go. It is so silly to be blathering about suplexes like a little fanboy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TCO (talk • contribs) 01:48, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
WikiProject class rating
[edit]This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot (talk) 18:16, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Weapon X?
[edit]No mention of Dawkins penchant for having an "on the field alias" modeled after the X-Men's own Wolverine? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.201.180.137 (talk) 20:23, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Dirty
[edit]Should Dawkins' penchant for helmet-to-helmet contact be mentioned? As much as his particular skill is performing "bruising" hits, it's worth noting that he prefers using his helmet as opposed to form tackling. Brian Dawkins is at least as well known for his intent to injure opposing players as he is for his statistical accomplishments. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.76.60.69 (talk) 08:08, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
LOCK THIS
[edit]I also agree with everyone below, but now it's locked and it's locked with inaccurate, unsourced information. He is a free agent. Nothing to the contrary has been confirmed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.236.20.27 (talk) 01:35, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Lock this wikipedia entry. Brian Dawkins is a FREE AGENT until he signs his name on the line with any team. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.80.125.191 (talk) 23:27, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
I agree. Can't be edited that he got traded to Denver, especially since he hasn't actually signed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.49.246.25 (talk) 00:12, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Dawkins did not sign with the Broncos yet. He is still a free agent. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.248.115.111 (talk) 01:34, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Someone changed it back to Eagles. I fixed it though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Metfan722 (talk • contribs) 03:07, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Guys they just confirmed he signed with the Broncos. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Raiderhater59 (talk • contribs) 03:59, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
The only thing that's confirmed is that Brian Dawkins VISITED the Broncos. He hasn't signed with them, and is all is right with the world, He will stay with Philadelphia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DudeMikezilla (talk • contribs) 05:01, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
At this point there are reports that have said he has signed with the Broncos and reports that say he has not signed with them. At this point, I don't think you can call him an official member of the Denver Broncos. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Skiddp (talk • contribs) 05:07, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
He has not signed, I will remove Broncos signing information. WP:FUTURE --Flyguy33 (talk) 16:54, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
The Broncos have now signed Brian Dawkins. It was just reported on NFL.com. ~Richmond96 t • c 18:56, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Rotoworld just reported it's official.--Giants27 T/C 19:08, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Longest-Tenured athlete in Philadelphia
[edit]I removed the line that said " In fact, Allen Iverson's departure from the Philadelphia 76ers in 2006 made Dawkins the longest-tenured athlete in Philadelphia sports." because Mike Schmidt had a longer athletic career in Philadelphia (17 seasons) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.51.87.203 (talk) 18:44, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Eminem - Legacy
[edit]I think it should be mentioned somewhere in the article that Brian was directly referenced in the Eminem song Legacy from his new album.
