Box Office Mojo sucks

[edit]

The numbers in the article body in the Box Office section bear no resemblance to the numbers in the Infobox and seem to be wildly out of date. Many editors seem to have a bad habit of updating the Infobox while failing to update the article text to match.

In the Infobox the gross claims to be $481,879 and the Box Office Mojo reference has an access date from April 2020 (I am writing this comment June 2020) but despite the recent access date the figures are not up to date. Following the link https://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&id=breathein.htm currently redirects to the page https://www.boxofficemojo.com/releasegroup/gr3254604293/ which breaks down the budget into DOMESTIC $89,661 INTERNATIONAL $391,418 ... WORLDWIDE $481,079 which strangely is less than the figure claimed.
Elsewhere in the article another link to Box Office Mojo https://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=breathein.htm redirects to https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl675907073/weekend/ which again puts the total at $481,079
It is bizarre to think box office figures for a 2014 film would subject to change in the past few months, and even stranger that they would be revised downwards.

If you got to the main Box Office Mojo page for this film the mess continues (old link https://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=breathein.htm which redirects to) https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt1999987/ (Title Summary panel) the total is $500,207. More messing, and another different total. On closer inspection, the small extra difference seems to be due to a Korean re-release in 2015, but again it is unclear why grosses from more than 5 years ago would change, or why a reference with such a recent access date would list seemingly incorrectly numbers.

Looking at Template:Infobox_film and Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Film#Box_office I see no information about how to handle re-releases, so it seems like the article could and should be updated to use the latest front page total, $500,207 inclusive of the 2015 re-release. -- 109.76.204.23 (talk) 14:08, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Box Office Mojo was overhauled in the past year or two, and the WikiProject Film community has dealt with issues as a result of the overhaul. I suggest putting the URL into Internet Archive and reviewing what the pages looked like around 2016 and to reference that instead. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 14:29, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
