There
[edit]There is more BCAM information on the pink ribbon page than on the BCAM page itself. I think we should move the BCAM information from pink ribbon to BCAM, and thus make the pink ribbon page focus specifically on its actual topic. What do you think? WhatamIdoing 17:17, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- As there were no objections on either page, I made this change. WhatamIdoing 17:03, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Criticisms cleanup
[edit]Some of the criticisms didn't make much sense -- I have attempted to clean up a little with several significant and minor (i.e., grammatical) changes, and have added citations. Youngea (talk) 00:43, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Removing POV
[edit]I have removed the following from the History section because it is not written to be verifiable, and appears to be someone's positive opinion of the campaign. "It is safe to say BCAM is one of the most successful health awareness campaigns the UK, and other countries, have ever seen. The pink ribbon is easily recognized as the symbol for breast awareness and the colour pink has become well established with the cause." Youngea (talk) 01:03, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Proposed merger
[edit]Pink for October is essentially a grass-roots promotion for NBCAM. I don't think that they need to have separate articles. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:56, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
- I don't see the relevance at all. Pink for October may be about NBCAM and perhaps you thinking linking is worthy, but I don't think it should be a part of the NBCAM's article. Liz (talk) 17:25, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Do you know of any reliable sources that indicate notability for the marketing campaign separately from the event that it's marketing? WhatamIdoing (talk) 21:38, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

"Breast aware"
[edit]- ...BCAM is also a prime opportunity to remind women to be breast aware for earlier detection.
Is this supposed to be some sort of pun? It sounds mighty awkward. If you're going to use this word choice, shouldn't it be "breast-aware"? Does ...BCAM is also a prime opportunity to remind women to consider early detection not roll of the tongue a little easier? Charles35 (talk) 15:28, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- "Being breast aware" is jargon, so it doesn't mean what the plain English words mean. Breast self-examination proved useless, but the breast cancer organizations still want women to do something themselves, so now women are supposed to "be breast aware". It means approximately that all women should "just happen to" notice any changes in their breasts as soon as they happen, and promptly report the changes to their primary care provider for professional assessment. AFAIK there are no studies indicating that it's any more effective than BSEs (it's a moderately new concept), but it ought to have fewer of the harmful side effects. Another Activity to add...
[edit]After reading this article, I think the time has come to add another activity called Beards for Breast Cancer. I first heard of such organization while watching WXIN's newscasts. Aeverine Frathleen Nieves (talk) 16:51, 21 September 2014 (UTC)
