Promotion
[edit]Removed "landscape luminaries such as Paul Sorrenson" unless reference can be made. Maybe i am uninformed about garden design but with the current length of this article a minor promotion such as this need not be included. Nsrma 22:55, 17 December 2005 (AESDST)
- Sorensen is well-known to those interested in landscape design. Bowral is a good place to see his work as is the Blue Mountains. I have restored the reference to him.--A Y Arktos 20:39, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- not helped of course when his name is misspelt! He is the subject of a 1990 biography: Australia's master gardener : Paul Sorensen and his gardens--A Y Arktos 21:05, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Removed content directly referring to local businesses. Where possible this was re-phrased to a more neutral point of view. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shane Brittle (talk • contribs) 10:02, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Cleanup
[edit]This article really needs a lot of cleanup. To start with I removed this sentence:
Bowral also has great facilties like a local skate park where many skate comps are held, it also ofers a movie thetre and a sleazy brothal just over in Berrima, a close by town.
This has at least five misspellings, a POV problem ("sleazy brothal" [sic]), and no references. Jpp42 05:32, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
The mean maximum and minimum temperature in the information box gave the average January maximum and the average July minimum. I have altered it so that it shows the average annual maximum and minimum temperatures (from the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology). Ondewelle (talk) 21:03, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
I have today also made some other changes to tidy up spelling and grammar a bit and (I hope) to improve sense and avoid ambiguities. There is still work to be done though. Ondewelle (talk) 08:25, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
This page still requires a substantial amount of cleanup. References promoting local businesses have been removed, along with biased and unverifiable commentary. The page reads like a tourism promotion, and would benefit from a history section (similar to that contained in articles for Berrima, Mittagong and Moss Vale). Shane Brittle (talk) 10:20, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- I've added a link to the article history of Bowral, but the main article should be summarised at some point. The link was there before the edits of Vinniex1 (talk · contribs). Graham87 05:57, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Confusing wikilink
[edit]A little way down the lead, we have "Tulip Time Festival". "Tulip" links to tulip, which is fair enough; but "Time Festival" links to Capital Country. That's not very helpful - I expected to read about the festival, yet the "Capital Country" article contains not one word about it! 81.158.1.138 (talk) 02:18, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Non-notables
[edit]I'm flagging a need to prune the list "Past and present notable residents of Bowral". Redlinks are maybe OK if they are quickly blued by a WP article establishing notability. Otherwise, they don't belong here. I would also argue that even blue-linked identities of local or temporary fame have no place in such an article which is designed for long-term international reference. The longer the list, the less it is worth reading, imho. Cheers, Bjenks (talk) 05:13, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

Notable residents
[edit]I've noticed that most of the entries in the notable residents section do not have any sources cited, and for the most part, their Wikipedia pages make no mention of them ever having lived in Bowral. It seems that if a lot of these people ever did, it can only have been in passing. Unless reliable sources can be found, I think most of the entries should be removed.
