[edit]

I have nominated this article for deletion a despite claims that it has been improved, this article is nothing more than a piece of puffery for a series of dinners in a Boston Hotel. Jezhotwells (talk) 00:32, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious

[edit]

The Food & Wine Classic in Aspen has been running since 1983 [1] so this oldest running wine and food pairing claim is wrong. The Paso Robles Wine Festival has been going for 27 years [2]. There is really nothig notable about the Boston event which is simply a piece of self promotion by a non notable hotel. Jezhotwells (talk) 23:36, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Large portions of the article, in fact a majority, are WP:Copyvios:

For each Boston Wine Festival event, Chef Bruce invites wine makers to share their most exclusive wines, while he prepares a unique multi-course meal that complements the flavors of the wines being showcased. He has served as executive chef of the Boston Harbor Hotel for twenty years. Before he assumed leadership of the hotel, Chef Bruce served as executive chef of 21 Club in New York City, being the youngest person to have ever served as executive chef throughout that restaurant’s history. is a direct copy of - or extremely close paraphrase of [3].
Chef Bruce expanded the festival to the Maison Dupuy in New Orleans, resulting in the French Quarter Wine Festival. He will launch the Capital Wine Festival at The Fairfax at Embassy Row in Washington, D.C. in 2010. - same source [4].
In celebration of the 20th anniversary Chef Daniel Bruce brought back some of his favorite winemakers from previous years, along with a few new guest chefs - is a very close paraphrase of [5].
So the article relies on sources which re-hash Pyramid's (the hotel owners) publicity material, much of which is reproduced verbatim in this article, including the inaccurate claim that is the nation’s longest running wine and food pairing series. Removal of tags

[edit]

User:Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ), kindly do not remove the {{dubious}} tag again. It is there so that that particular claim can be discussed on the article talk page. And the {{cn}} tag on the claim about Bruce being the youngest chef at 21 is there for a similar purpose. Removing justifiable tags is not a proper way to conduct discussions on Wikipedia. I have changed the wording and added your information as a footnote. Excellent research. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 03:41, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
