He is a Permanent Member of the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP), and the Susan F. Education (REPLACES Biography): Born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), [WIKI LINK] Russia, in 1956, Shraiman received a BS from the University of Lowell [WIKI LINK] in 1978, and a PhD from Harvard [WIKI LINK] in 1983. In 2004, Shraiman was invited to become a Permanent Member the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP), at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), and a professor in UCSB's Physics Department.
