Is a Boolean flag really a single bit?

Boolean flag is indeed a term, as are Boolean and Boolean value. But this article needs multiple, reliable references showing that Boolean flag is equated with being exactly one bit in size. In my experience it's the opposite: Boolean flag is any kind of truth flag regardless of size, and in most languages it's stored as a byte. Dgpop (talk) 23:16, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
