Notability
[edit]Full length article in NYT already referenced should be sufficient to establish notability. But if anyone disagrees, it might be worth spending fifteen seconds reviewing a news search like this Google news archive search.Bongomatic 14:46, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- I've now done a quick search in Google (web) and in Google News. (Apologies for not having done one earlier) It seems to me, that even though quite a lot hits come up, there's not a lot that's actually notable there. It seems, at first glance, that it's just stuff that all wineries do! Anyway, I'm by no means an expert on what is notable and what is not, so I'm not going to insist; if there's a doubt then I guess the article is not doing any harm, as there's no obvious self-promotion, spam or conflict of interest.
- With regard to the NYT article, Mr.Grahm seems a lot more notable as a subject for an article than BD winery! (IMHO)--BodegasAmbite (talk) 08:29, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- The notability guidelines provide for inclusion for companies that have received significant coverage in reliable sources. "Significant" is defined very broadly (it basically means "must be more than a passing mention"), but even a higher threshold—such as being the main topic of an article—has been established for Bonny Doon Vineyard. Yes, it is being covered for things that all wineries do (or hope to do), but "notable" is not equal to "exceptional", in Wikipedia or elsewhere. Bongomatic 09:26, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- OK, I've done a thorough search on Google and Google News, and I think there's notability out there. The article needs a lot of improvement though and Randall Grahm should have an article too (or perhaps included in this one). --BodegasAmbite (talk) 15:03, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. I think that's great. Grahm's notability seems to be pretty tied up with Bonny Doon so until his own information exceeds this (lots of biographical information, such as family life and schools) probably a redirect is appropriate. I've added one, but if you want to unlink it and create an article, even better! Bongomatic 15:33, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
