The result of the move request was: page moved. Suggest that anyone wanting to make "Reno" a part of the title submit a new move request. Wbm1058 (talk) 11:54, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
The request to rename this article to Boise State–Nevada football rivalry has been carried out. |
Boise State–Nevada rivalry → Boise State–Nevada football rivalry – This page only talks about football. 71.211.193.144 (talk) 09:23, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- Rename to Boise State–University of Nevada, Reno football rivalry since Nevada has more then one football team. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:51, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
- I have moved this article to Boise State–Nevada football rivalry in accordance with naming conventions for college football rivalries. Jweiss11 (talk) 04:10, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
- Comment – It appears that this page may have been moved prematurely. University of Nevada is a disambiguation page, although there is some discussion on talk:University of Nevada that the older university in Reno should be the primary topic. But, currently it seems Vegaswikian makes a good point. No problem with Boise State – the University is PT. Wbm1058 (talk) 01:45, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- If there was nothing stopping the page from being moved in the first place, why have a discussion at all?—Ryulong (琉竜) 08:50, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- Controversial or potentially controversial moves should be discussed first. Given the two "U of Nevadas", err on the conservative side and assume this might be controversial. Wbm1058 (talk) 16:13, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

- Comment – Applicable naming conventions:
- Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sports)
- Wikipedia:WikiProject College football/Naming conventions
- See Fremont Cannon (Battle for Nevada), not UNLV–Nevada rivalry, Nevada–UNLV rivalry, UNLV–Nevada football rivalry, Nevada–UNLV football rivalry
- Maybe Boise State–Nevada, Reno football rivalry? – Wbm1058 (talk) 16:13, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- Support as proposed, per WP:COMMONNAME. Or are we going to move, say, Iowa-Wisconsin football rivalry to Iowa-Wisconsin, Madison football rivalry? (Might as well also move Nevada Wolf Pack football to Nevada, Reno Wolf Pack football.) --BDD (talk) 16:50, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
- This move was not premature nor remotely controversial. The move that was requested and that I executed was simply to add the word "football" to the article title. Whether "Nevada" needs disambiguation is another issue. However, the article as named is in keeping with naming conventions for American college sports, which I've been working on here for years. In the context of college sports, "Nevada" refers to the teams of the school in Reno. The teams of the school in Las Vegas are "UNLV". There's no ambiguity here worthy of further management. End of discussion. Jweiss11 (talk) 05:00, 10 July 2013 (UTC)
- Twice you have moved this article, as an involved editor, without properly following the WP:RM/CI instructions. To deny that it's even "remotely controversial" is a slap at Vegaswikian, who seems to have made an at least somewhat valid point. I suspect that it's not entirely uncontroversial in southern Nevada. Regarding the move
[edit]No slaps in the face were intended, but this name change was not remotely controversial. Suspicion of such controversy seems to be due entirely to unfamiliarity with the subject and over-arching naming conventions regarding college sports. It should have never been opened up as a requested move. Should have just been done. Jweiss11 (talk) 01:59, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
