help citing source
[edit]I am new. I changed a source. It is the Sun-Sentinel link. Reference bot told me there was an unnamed parameter error. I don't know how to fix it. Can someone help me? Thanks Sjml52 (talk) 18:14, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Sjml52, and thank you for your edit. I've fixed the error - you had forgotten to put an attribute name (I'm not actually sure if that's the right term, but I'm going to go ahead and call it that anyway!) to the URL, so the template didn't know what to make of it. The fix was to add "url=" before the URL. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 18:20, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
noteworthy?
[edit]It is unclear to me why Coy is noteworthy, other than as advertisement . The supporting links are mostly Calvary.

As the head pastor of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, the main campus, he is known by most South Floridian Christians connected to Calvary Chapel, a public figure of a church that in it's totality in South Florida has an average of about 30.000 individuals. As the founder his links to calvary are undeniable.
yes?
[edit]I'm not 100% sure but I think he meets basic criteria which states: "A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject.".[1]A Google search will show multiple published secondary sources that are "reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject." i.e. independent.co.uk/ Sun Sentinel

Lol, okay, so he's notable because he is "yet another" fallen pastor? Really? Sliceofmiami (talk) 03:22, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
Hi Rex2566, I added {{notability}}
to the front page. It remains unclear how those couple of references present "significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources" for this individual. Sliceofmiami (talk) 04:00, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- As an external, unrelated reviewer seems to me that there's enough secondary sources (Sun Sentinel, Outreach Magazine, The Independent, Billy Graham, New Times Broward-Palm Beach) to support it.

For what it's worth, I just came to this page in search of information about Bob Coy, and I'm glad it was here. I know Wikipedia's notability policy doesn't necessarily depend on how famous a figure is, but Calvary Chapel in Ft. Lauderdale itself has tens of thousands of followers, and his scandal in particular was a major event for the whole city of Ft. Lauderdale. I think it's worth having this article for that reason alone.

Slanderous
[edit]Whoever the person that is posting incorrect and slanderous info as facts needs to read the articles they are citing. To much reading between the lines and adding things that are not there. And to Auric please get the facts before you undo things you know nothing about. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.138.14.226 (talk) 21:57, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
"In Universe" support...
[edit]Please cite real world sources for Bob Coy's involvement with 4 kids. According to sunbiz, he isn't and never has been involved. This is being re-added. If you have real world (non in universe) notes on his involvement, by all means add them.
I still don't see how this fellow is notable.
Sliceofmiami (talk) 03:58, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
However, Bob Coy's direct involvement with 4 kids cannot be substantiated through Sunbiz nor any other reference.[1][2][3]
