Proposed additions

[edit]

I was told I better not make edits on my own entry, so I propose here some edits, for others to consider which should be implemented:

  • Adding the links to selection principle and to nonabelian cryptology also in the body of the article.
  • Awards and recognition: Update as "...in Israel in 2003 (shared with Irit Dinur)".
  • If relevant, adding a line on my recreational activities. It was erased since it was I that added it before. The line may be something like "As a recreational activity, Tsaban does recycled carpentry projects." You may refer to the Wikipedia article on carpentry for the definition of recycled carpentry (assuming it is still there), or to my website on recycled carpentry, or provide no reference, that's up to you.

You may like to read Wikipedia:Autobiography, which addresses why editors generally should not edit articles about themselves. Wikipedia's polices on biographies of living persons may also be helpful.
It seems that some of the suggested changes above have already been made. A suitable source would be required for the addition about Irit Dinur (the link for the existing source doesn't work).
Content about hobbies/recreational activities should not be included if they are not relevant to the subject's notability and cannot be substantiated with third-party sources. Personal websites are not suitable sources, and it is not appropriate for the subject of an article to add information that only the subject of the article (and close associates) could reasonably know about.--Jeffro77 (talk) 02:45, 10 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Jeffro77 points out the link to the Nessyahu Prize was broken, so I suggest changing it to https://imudotorgdotil.wordpress.com/nessyahu-prize/ (it also includes list of recipients).
I do not see the point in adding a link to my paper on the rabbinical approximation of pi. The article does not justify, in my view, an emphasis of this paper (written, BTW, while I was still a BSc student.) Boaz.tsaban (talk) 5:01 am, Today (UTC+10)
Blogs are not generally considered suitable sources. However, if this is an official blog of the issuers of the prize, it might be suitable.
I tend to agree that the paper in the External links section doesn't seem to be especially notable for inclusion here.
I don't see serious issues with the requested changes, but I don't have any prior experience dealing with changes requested by the article subject, so I will leave for further discussion.--Jeffro77 (talk) 00:58, 11 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Jeffro77. The link I provided ( https://imudotorgdotil.wordpress.com/nessyahu-prize/ ) is to the official website of the Israel Mathematical Union (IMU). They host it there, but it is not a blog as you can easily inspect. Boaz.tsaban (talk) 08:24, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
