Music
[edit]Someone put this on the main article: "Does anyone know the music used in the trailer for this movie as a lot of people are asking about it." Valid question, just does not belong on the article but here in the discussion. --Scuac (talk) 13:16, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
This article is no longer a stub (as far as I can tell, most of the original was taken verbatim from the Memento press release) but it could use a bit of helpful editing from other users. This is the plot to my best recollection, but I'd be delighted if someone would review the chronology. Kabuki dreams (talk) 12:09, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Clearly this article needed some careful and close attention, although the most recent set of edits - whilst apt in tone - appear to be somewhat over-zealous. The emboldening of cast and character names, in preparation for a necessary expansion of the 'Cast' section, is not bad practice - the Featured Articles Alien vs. Predator (film) and Jurassic Park (film), for example, use this style in their cast sections.
Also, whilst the criticism that the article is not about Asia Argento or Olivier Assayas is valid, the complete excision of some parts of this article is not an appropriate response. The reception of the film (as noted in the referenced NYTimes review) has been heavily influenced by the perception of the director's oeuvre; this information is relevant to the film Boarding Gate itself, rather than its director. The reviewers' evaluation of Asia Argento's performance in Boarding Gate is also directly relevant to this article, as were all the accompanying quotations, although it could benefit from some rephrasing to establish this relevance. Unclear copyright
[edit]The article Boarding Gate now has a {{copyvio}} template attached, but I am unclear what the exact concern is. The plot summary matches IMDB's synopsis but I cannot determine which came first. Here's the history as far as I can determine (although I'm also a registered IMDB user IMDB won't let me examine the history here, so I resorted to the Internet Archive).
- this 2008-05-25 edit added the Plot section and this and this edit 23 minutes later and this one 2 hours later up to this one a few hours later further expanded it.
- Internet archive's 2009-02-29 snapshot has "Page last updated by matt-282, 6 months ago" at the end of the synopsis. This dates that version at about 2008 August, but maybe even 2008 March depending on IMDB's dating "formula". If 2008 August then it would appear IMDB copied wikipedia, but if 2008 March then IMDB had the source earlier, although this seems less plausible given the incremental editing evident in wikipedia's version. I noticed IMDB retains the wrong spellings present in the 2008 May version that were part fixed in 2008 June (entrepeneur and earler).
Without more definitive details I cannot determine which copied which, or even if both sources copied a third. Can any editor with better IMDB access (Pro maybe?) get more details ? -84user (talk) 21:41, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
- After looking at contributions by one user that edited IMDB's Boarding Gate I find the evidence suggests IMDB has copied wikipedia. For example: this 2008 February edit (4 years ago) appears before the last IMDB edit here (3 years ago). See also Talk:Sea of Love (film)#Who copies who. -84user (talk) 23:45, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
