Temporary Emergency Committee
[edit]We should add a discussion of the temporary emergency committee that was created in 2014 to allow the board to continue operating in face of the numerous vacancies (and lack of a quorum). meamemg (talk) 21:48, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
I agree that the lack of any current board members warrants some explanation. Why have none of the 9 vacancies been filled? Who is in charge until they are? Is the postmaster general essentially immune until such appointments are made?
Can anyone find reliable sources for such an explanation? 108.202.196.96 (talk) 15:09, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Capitalization
[edit]"Board of Governors" is capitalized because it is the full name of the board. "The board" is not capitalized because it is a generic name of a political unit. See MOS:POLITICALUNITS: "Generic words for institutions, organizations, companies, etc., and rough descriptions of them (university, college, hospital, church, high school)". —Eyer (If you reply, add {{reply to|Eyer}}

Ron Bloom?
[edit]Is Ron Bloom still a member of the USPS Board of Governors? He is not listed at the WP page, but the USPS website still lists him as a board member, [1]. On the other hand, his profile page [2] there says that his appointment was until December 8, 2020. Did they just not update the main board page yet? Or was his appointment continued somehow? Nsk92 (talk) 21:53, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- Never mind, I found the info that Bloom is serving an additional holdover year on the board and I added this info with a ref to the article. Nsk92 (talk) 01:19, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
Scam mail
[edit]If you would charge all these junk mail people like we pay our life would be better for you and us. Less mail to clog the system. Why do they get cheap mail? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.181.81.142 (talk) 00:11, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
Ron Stroman is listed twice
[edit]As a current governor and as a former member (as deputy postmaster general).
I think he should be removed as a former member. But if you want to keep him in the former member category, an additional note should be made that he is a current member as a governor.

Carrier sortment

Moak and Zollars
[edit]I made edits to reflect the vacancies for seats occupied by Moak and Zollars, but they were reverted. I see now that the notes indicate holdovers lasting until new appointments are confirmed. In the past, holdovers were limited to one year and only then under emergency situations (when there were large numbers of vacancies). This is how the board wound up with a ridiculous 9 vacancies by end of the Obama administration. If I recall, the one year holdover was itself an innovation meant to deal with the vacancy issue. I'm sure the policy has changed, but I can't seem to find any reference to how or when it changed. Ron Bloom stepped down after only one holdover year (and there was not yet a confirmed successor), so this appears to be the first time longer holdovers have occurred. Does anyone know about this new rule? --98.6.132.35 (talk) 22:31, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
