Education funding
[edit]I understand he undertook a lot of education, which must have been very expensive. I wonder who paid for it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.102.129.250 (talk) 14:07, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- Education is free of charge in France including University (that includes Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris). He then had a student job to pay tuition fees at HEC. He was sent to Harvard through a tuition sponsorship (Franco US chamber of Commerce). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 159.50.203.7 (talk) 16:36, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
Early life and education
[edit]One question: what kind of “masters degree” obtained Mr. Djelic in France when such diploma did not exist at that time? French “Maîtrise” is a direct translation from English and the word refers to ordinary graduate study and first university diploma. The first postgraduate study in France was diploma of “troisiemme cicle”, DEA. Was this "masters degree" in reality a DEA (Diplôme d'Études Approfondies)? Troubling is also that in the curriculum Mr. Djelic does not follow a regular academic way. The MBA and similar courses are not recognised as regular “masters degree”. The MBA is a course with the scope to prepare students for more specialised ordinary work. A regular masters degree, similarly to the French DEA, is preparatory study and introduction into scientific research; while doctoral studies (PhD) are preparation for an academic scientific research and teaching career. Both of them are not to see in this curriculum.Draganparis (talk) 22:23, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
