Merger Proposal

[edit]

@Famartin: Red Rock, Nevada should probably be merged into Blue Diamond, Nevada. Red Rock is a proposed development adjacent to Blue Diamond. It could also be under Red Rock Canyon, though because the proposed development is not in Red Rock Canyon and is adjacent to Blue Diamond, it seems more appropriate to be merged into Blue Diamond. Blue Diamond Mine could be updated to mention the proposed development. However, as Red Rock is a proposed development, it should be part of Blue Diamond, Nevada, which is a community as opposed to being a part of Blue Diamond Mine, which is a mine. Oppose: I have found nearly 100 sources about the proposed Red Rock community. The proposal dates back to at least 2003, and there have been numerous lawsuits and opposition regarding the project. I think there's plenty to warrant a standalone article.  AJFU  (talk) 17:43, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for expressing an opinion on the merge. I don't have a strong feeling about proposed merge, and am looking for some guidance. On one hand, if Red Rock was already built, would it be notable? On the other hand, the lawsuits and county commission activity could be notable (I don't have much experience with notability of such things). Before my recent changes, the Red Rock page was a stub that failed to state that it was a proposed community, so Red Rock can't be that notable :-) . For comparison, I found the Coyote Springs, Nevada site to be noteworthy in part because it was a large development effort that failed. I went ahead and created a new category called "Proposed communities" in Template:Clark County, Nevada. I'm not sure if this was the right thing or not. I guess if we apply the WP:N tests then Red Rock might be notable because there is significant reliable coverage from multiple sources. Red Rock is not notable because it is a proposed place, it might be notable because of the controversy. Let's see if anyone else gives an opinion. Cxbrx (talk) 18:12, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Given the amount of controversy and the number of lawsuits between the various groups involved, I think that would, indeed, make the project notable. It's probably about as notable as Coyote Springs. If no one objects, I'll probably start expanding the article in about a week. Your changes at the Clark County template look fine to me.  AJFU  (talk) 14:52, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Great job on expanding Red Rock, Nevada! I'm withdrawing my proposal of merging that page to here. Cxbrx (talk) 02:58, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
