[EDITOR: I am stopping at this point to get your reaction. The bctv.org program referenced below featured my appearance to promote my presentation at the Berks History Center on this very topic. Since that time, I have written three extensive articles for the Historical Review of Berks County. (See the Summer 2019 and Fall 2019 issues; the third installment, which includes far more detail with regard to the Bloody Spring and the Degler Chest is in production.)
