Clockwise vs. Counterclockwise

[edit]

Thus the transverse magnetization, Mxy, rotates around the z axis with angular frequency ω0 γB0 in counterclockwise direction (this due to the negative sign in the exponent).

Actually, Mxy rotates in clockwise direction:

When grows, the apex of the Mxy moves down and to the left -- clockwise.

Moreover, I think that writing would be somewhat better because it is easier to draw the parallel with the notion of Larmor frequency in this way.

I will only change "counterclockwise" to "clockwise" and wait for comments on the negative circular frequency idea.

bloch-equation quantum theory

[edit]

the block-equation, or rather a bloch-action that induces the (plain) bloch equation, also arises in quantum field theory, when constructing a feynman path integral (euklidean) for spin degrees of freedom [condensed matter field theory, altland/simons, 3.3.5]. this might be interesting fact to add. 217.93.151.103 (talk) 13:50, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bz and the change of Mz

[edit]

According to the equation, Bz does not directly affect the change of Mz, this is very weird. Jackzhp (talk) 17:18, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sign error in matrix for Bloch equations in the rotating frame

[edit]

I believe there is a sign error in the rotating frame formulation of the Bloch equations in "matrix-vector notation". Due to symmetry, I think the -element of the 3×3 matrix (or possibly ) should be . Bocercus (talk) 21:08, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
