Village?

Is Blackgang realy a village or just a hamlet? Dainamo (talk) 10:43, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Good question. Prior to the establishment of the amusement park in 1843, it was scarcely a hamlet: a hotel and a few houses. Something of a village built up around it following that, with quite a few villas built as part of a Victorian building boom (check out the image on page 61 in this paper [1]. Now, most of that has been obliterated by erosion: Blackgang is just the amusement park and a handful of houses. Gordonofcartoon (talk) 14:01, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
