Actually we're both wrong - neither Estate (land) nor Estate (house), is where this should point, but rather to Estate (law). bd2412 T 22:07, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Blackacre State Nature Preserve

Judge Macauley Smith donated his property in 1980 and called it Blackacre.

He donated his property to the Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission and since then through the Jefferson County Public Schools, over 250,000 children have visited the property.

Civil War origin?

I don't see how it can possibly be claimed that this term is related to the American Civil War, when the term was in use as early as the 1600s, and was specifically already being used as a placeholder name in a real property hypothetical in 1790. bd2412 T 01:24, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
