Differences

[edit]

Perhaps a picture of the differences between Brent Goose and Black Brant would be good if available?

Are there any differences, other than range? The black brant is a subspecies of the brent goose. 138.16.32.85 (talk) 17:52, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there are differences (morphology, colour, ...) jw (talk) 14:13, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
and, by the way, there are two other subspecies of Brent Goose (subs bernicla dark-bellied and subsp hrota light-bellied) as well as a variety (grey bellied) which doesn't have the status of a subspecies but is apparently intermediate between hrota and nigricans. jw (talk) 22:12, 7 August 2019 (UTC).[reply]

Merge Black brant into Brant goose ?

[edit]

This Black brant page, which only gives minimal information on this sub-species, could easily be merged into the Brant goose page.
What do you think ?

In my opinion it probably should be merged jw (talk) 14:13, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I continue to support this merge, but am still hoping for enlightened response; this article should become a simple redirect to Brant (goose) and any unique information transferred there [cf. the other subspecies of B.bernicla do not have their own pages] -- jw (talk) 12:34, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I am going to be bold and proceed with the above change over the next few days, in the following steps jw (talk) 13:12, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  1. redirect from this page to Brant goose -- done -- jw (talk) 13:45, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  2. merge some of the text to Brant goose -- done -- jw (talk) 23:00, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  3. merge some of the references to Brant goose -- done -- jw (talk) 23:00, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  4. remove text and references from this page, leaving only the redirect -- TBD jw (talk) 13:12, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
