Ready for Good Article?

[edit]

I think this article is pretty good now, and comparable to other GA like Iron Man and Captain America. I think maybe the biography section could be cleaned up and probably some sources could be improved. If anyone notices anything that needs to be brought up to standards, I can try to work on it. Quick fail. Far too many unsourced paragraphs and sentences.

As you can see you below, the article was quickly rejected because of two many unsourced sentences and paragraphs. This confused me, because I really think we've been pretty assiduous about sourcing. The rejection was done by a bot. It's possible, I think, that the immediate technical rejection is because of the long bibliography section discussed above, which of course has no citations and should not be on Wikipedia. I'm going to come back to this in the future; right now I'm working on another article. We need to figure out how to get this article up to GA standard. Deleting "Other versions"

[edit]

The "Other versions" subheading ought to be mostly removed. Most are not mentioned in any sources outside the comics, and so they are trivia more than anything else; including them gives them disproportionate weight. We should follow the model established in the Iron Man page. Wrangler1981 (talk) 21:44, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is the same as what HanzoSteel007 raised below. The information is included at this page until either A. it can be split to its own article, rather than just cutting it and not splitting to make it lost information, or B. it can be cut down with better referencing. Rome was not built in a day. We'll get this article GA status eventually, but it will need work, and cutting information left-and-right is not the way to go about it. The problem with the "Other versions" section is that it is all pure plot, with no out-of-universe info, and all references are comic books (meaning, primary sources). We may eventually fix it, or we may just use TNT. As far as I know, there's not really much out-of-universe stuff to work with, and all alternate Black Panthers are just side characters with minimal impact on the plot of the main stories. The only exception would be the current Ultimate Black Panther, the only one that seems to be a main character and have a dedicated comic, but that wouldn't be enough for a "Other versions" section: the mention it already has in the 2020s section is enough. Collected editions should be deleted

[edit]

It seems the "Collected editions" section should be deleted. I don't think it's encyclopedic; the other Good Articles, Captain America, Spider-Man, and Iron Man don't have it. Wrangler1981 (talk) 22:43, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Until there is a "List of Black Panther Titles" page, I think removing that section from the page is premature as it becomes lost information. HanzoSteel007 (talk) 21:10, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will leave this for now. However, this is not standard for Good Articles on these topics (see Iron Man and Captain America). I don't believe that Wikipedia has articles on lists of superhero titles. Wrangler1981 (talk) 18:39, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have now moved this section to a separate page, modeled on how Daredevil (Marvel Comics character) did it. I think the presence of this section is a major reason why the article failed GA review. Wrangler1981 (talk) 14:57, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Black Panther's Quest

[edit]

Some time ago I mentioned in the CBR forums that the fifth season of Avengers Assemble felt too much like a Black Panther animated series rather than an Avengers one. Someone who claimed to work in the production of the series replied to me that it was actually the idea, but then there was an internal dispute over releasing it as a Black Panther spin-off series or as a fith season; and finally the "fifth season" team got it their way. The forum is of course not a reliable source, and the guy was not a big name to justify quoting him, but has any of this ever been mentioned in other sources?
