[edit]I may be wrong but a basic history of a company should not be considered "blatant advertising for a company". Tom Bonnie 02:27, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, but when it comes up showing nothing but links to a company website without an {inuse} tag, WP:DUCK applies. --Rodhullandemu 02:32, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

It won't let me edit the page. Would someone add John Janchar as the president of the Telecommunications division in the info box? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.76.145.120 (talk) 05:17, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Updates & References
[edit]Hello. I tried to improve the Black & Veatch article by tightening up some of the content and adding new/updated references. I removed the reference to BV being the largest engineering firm in Kansas City as this is disputed by a more recent publication that names Burns & McDonnell as the largest (referenced here). I'm also unsure of the relevance. I welcome comments, corrections and improvements. JAGG102502 (talk) 15:29, 12 August 2023 (UTC)

Factual Updates Feb. 2025
[edit]Hello, I am employed by Black & Veatch and seek to make a number of strictly factual updates to this page, mostly replacing out-of-date statistics or corporate facts with updated information. I am aware of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines and I intend to abide by them. I am disclosing my potential conflict of interest here for transparency and in the hopes another Wikipedian will consider these suggested edits on the Talk page and make them on my behalf. These edits, made in good faith and without intent to create promotional or advertising-related content, are intended solely to improve the accuracy and quality of Black & Veatch's page and related pages. Please leave any feedback or comments on my Talk page.
Here are the proposed changes:
- In answer box at top, list of Key People includes Laszlo von Lazar as President, Fuels & Natural Resources. This individual is no longer with the company. The President, Fuels & Natural Resources is Narsingh Chaudhary (citation: https://www.bv.com/en-US/news/black-and-veatch-names-narsingh-chaudhary-president-of-companys-fuels-and-natural-resources-sector)
- In answer box at top, Areas Served needs minor update on "telecommunications." This should instead say the more specific "private telecommunications" as the company divested its public telecom arm, selling it to Dycom Industries in 2024 (citation: https://www.constructiondive.com/news/dycom-black-veatch-acquisition-wireless-infrastructure-construction/725464/). This divestiture could be added to the Company timeline section as well.
- In answer box at top, add line for Revenue. 2023 revenue (latest reported) was $4.735 billion per B&V's corporate sustainability report (end section of report in GRI Index notes: https://cdn.bfldr.com/E1EVDN8O/at/6qmn4zcr8z5jtcqnfjqvbvkr/24_SustainabilityReport.pdf)
- In article body's first graf, replace "It specializes in infrastructure development in power, oil and gas, water, telecommunications, government, mining, data centers and smart cities markets." with the more accurate reflection of the industries it currently serves: "It specializes in infrastructure development in energy, liquefied natural gas, water, renewable energy including solar, private telecommunications, government, mining, data centers, cybersecurity, advisory services, electrified transportation and smart cities." These changes reflect shifts in B&V's service offerings over the last several years, as reflected here: https://www.bv.com/en-US/what-we-do
- In article body second graf, replace 9th with 10th largest (citation: https://www.nceo.org/research/employee-ownership-100)
- In article body second graf, second sentence, replace the ambiguously worded "In 2023, the company reported total revenue of $4.7 billion." which refers to 2022 revenue being reported in 2023 with "The company reported 2023 revenue of $4.735 billion." (citation again is end section of corporate sustainability report in GRI Index notes: https://cdn.bfldr.com/E1EVDN8O/at/6qmn4zcr8z5jtcqnfjqvbvkr/24_SustainabilityReport.pdf)
- Article body second graft, third sentence, update ENR ranking year from 2022 to 2023 (B&V remains at #14 for design firms). Updated citation link to replace outdated one: https://www.enr.com/toplists/2024-top-500-design-firms-preview. Also in following sentence change "5th largest in telecommunications, 8th largest in water and 11th largest in sewer and waste" to "8th largest in water and 10th largest in telecommunications." ENR rankings are behind paywall but can cite Black & Veatch news release sharing rankings: https://www.bv.com/en-US/news/leading-industry-publication-black-and-veatch-remains-among-global-critical
- In company timeline, suggest removing the following entry: "2009 Black & Veatch launched the infraManagement Group LLC (www.inframanagementgroup.com), a wholly owned subsidiary to assist asset owners with management of water, wastewater, and power-generating assets." This entry was accurate at the time, but this as a distinct entity seems to no longer exist and the website returns a 404 error
- In Company timeline, add the following:
--2017 Black & Veatch forms Diode Ventures, LLC, "to provide clients with a full-service solution to develop and manage their infrastructure assets" with Black & Veatch’s Global Chief Technology Officer, Brad Hardin, as president. (citations: https://www.linkedin.com/company/diodeventures/about/?viewAsMember=true for 2017 and for company mission and Brad Hardin information https://www.diodeventures.com/about-diode) --2020 Black & Veatch announces it is ceasing participation in new coal-based design and construction projects in an attempt to focus on more renewable energy work. (citation: https://www.constructiondive.com/news/black-veatch-leaving-coal-projects-in-the-dust/588379/) --2022 Mario Azar succeeds the retiring Steve Edwards as Chairman & CEO (citation https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2022/04/15/black-veatch-mario-azar-chairman-ceo-edwards.html) --2023 Black & Veatch acquires Texas-based electrical contractor and storm restoration expert Bird Electric Enterprises, LLC, adding 600 employees in the process. (citation: https://www.constructiondive.com/news/black-veatch-acquires-texas-electrical-contractor-bird-electric-construction/649779/) --2024 Black & Veatch establishes a global Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity practice to protect critical infrastructure assets from hackers and cybercriminals (citation: https://www.enr.com/articles/58354-black-and-veatch-establishes-global-cybersecurity-practice)
- Company timeline verb tenses also alternate between present and past, suggest editing for consistency
- In Ukraine arm: BTRIC, add sentence at end of second graf: "Some social media users have attempted to link Black & Veatch to conspiracy theories related to the war in Ukraine and the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic through this biosurveillance facility development and the dates of various executed agreements. Per the Associated Press, 'The government initially signed an agreement in late 2019 with a contractor, Black & Veatch, as part of biological threat reduction work in Ukraine, according to officials and documents. After the pandemic began, Black & Veatch hired another firm, Labyrinth Gold Health, to provide expertise for Ukraine’s COVID-19 response. The description of the work in a federal database was updated, but the original agreement date remained.'"
