Move?
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was moved to Bishop of Kilmore, as no actual objections have been raised. Aervanath (talk) 12:52, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
Diocese of Kilmore (Church of Ireland) → Bishop of Kilmore — The article was originally titled Bishop of Kilmore but was moved to Bishop of Kilmore (Church of Ireland), then I moved it to Diocese of Kilmore (Church of Ireland). In the meantime Bishop of Kilmore has become a disambig page. I've been going through the Irish bishop articles and am trying to create some consistency with them - Archbishop of Cashel, Bishop of Derry, Bishop of Killaloe, etc., they all include the pre-Reformation, Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic bishops. The article now includes the pre- and post-Reformation bishops. Could you please move Diocese of Kilmore (Church of Ireland) back to Bishop of Kilmore, its original place. Thanks. - Scrivener-uki (talk) 22:32, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- This move needs to be discussed, as it involves a mash-up of two distinct offices that happen to have the same name. --Una Smith (talk) 02:17, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- As I said above, Bishop of Kilmore was moved to Bishop of Kilmore (Church of Ireland) then to Diocese of Kilmore (Church of Ireland), all without any discussion. All I want to do is revert it back to its original place.
Until the Reformation, there was a single office, but following the Refomation there are two offices. Both see being decended from the pre-Reformation episcopal succession.
Other Wikipedia Irish bishop pages have the pre-Reformation and the two post-ones together in the same article - Bishop of Achonry, Bishop of Ossory, Bishop of Ardagh, etc.
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and should explain how the two offices came about from one. This is the reason I'd like it to be a single article and title Bishop of Kilmore. Scrivener-uki (talk) 13:01, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
