Adding of gender-neutral definition

[edit]

Given the gender-neutral association that "birthing person" has received of late, including in the article I cited, I added a gender-neutral definition. (My understanding, based on that source and others, is that not all trans men who give birth identity as mothers.)--Jerome Frank Disciple (talk) 21:51, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that User:Leschnei deleted the item—based on the rule he cited I think that was probably the right call, but it creates a really weird situation that I think requires some further inquiry. This is a term that really has become popularized as part of a push towards gender-neutral language, but this disambiguation page only links to the non-gender-neutral "Mothers". Perhaps this should be turned into an article. I'll do some more research.--Jerome Frank Disciple (talk) 12:49, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I quite like the idea of a stand-alone article explaining the use of the term. I note that none of the pages linked to seem to include "birthing person" or "birthing people". But I'm afraid I don't currently have capacity to try to draft anything.
In the meantime would it be appropriate to add something like:

A gender-neutral term used to include transgender pregnancy

That page also doesn't include the phrase "birthing people", but perhaps that would be an appropriate place for the reference Jerome Frank Disciple previously added. Mgp28 (talk) 09:01, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
